Can 600 pages of “A4” format be dedicated not even to a series but even to a single stamp? Some of them deserve it, including the one examined by Gianni Carraro and Luigi Sirotti. It is the identification of the value card and title of the book "Il 100 lire della Democratica".
Despite being modern (it dates back to 1946), the specimen embodies the characteristics and charm of the classics, explain the specialists who underwrote the work, characterized by over 900 color images. It, "accompanied by systematic research carried out on a considerable quantity of material, allowed the reconstruction of the various technical procedures and the drafting of a cataloguing".
It is divided into two parts. In the first, the focus is on the actual cut, considering for example decrees, characteristics, plates, positions, watermark, perforation, overprinting. The second focuses on postal history, addressing its use also in particular territories, tariffs, postage (including mixed), even counterfeits. Combined with the volume, a guide created by Sassone reserved for evaluations.
